Embracing Innovation and Collaboration for a Connected Future

As we navigate through the dynamic landscape of telecommunications and information and communication technology (ICT), the ITU-APT Foundation of India (IAFI) remains steadfast in its commitment to fostering sustainable growth within the sector. Our mission is not just to advocate for favourable policies and regulations but also to actively contribute to the global dialogue on how we can best utilize technology to bridge divides and enhance connectivity.

Recent Activities and Achievements

Over the past year, IAFI has been deeply engaged in several key initiatives that underscore our dedication to advancing the telecom industry in India and beyond. Our active participation in the World Radiocommunication Conference (WRC-23) was a testament to our commitment. With 71 delegates representing India, we played a pivotal role in shaping the regulatory framework that will guide the future of satellite communications and spectrum management.

Our focus on preparing for WRC-27 continues with an emphasis on critical areas such as 6G and satellite issues. The identification of new spectrum bands for 6G, particularly in the 4.4 to 4.8 GHz, 7.125 to 8.4 GHz, and 14.8 to 15.35 GHz ranges, is a significant step forward. These bands are essential for providing ubiquitous coverage in rural and suburban areas, bridging the digital divide, and enabling high data rate services in metro areas.

Looking Ahead

As we look to the future, IAFI is committed to several key objectives:

1. Advocacy and Policy Development: We will continue to advocate for policies that promote innovation and ensure equitable access to spectrum resources. Our work in this area is crucial for the development of next-generation technologies like 6G.
2. International Collaboration: IAFI will strengthen its collaborations with international stakeholders, including ITU, APT, WWRF, and others. By working together, we can harmonize standards and best practices, ensuring global interoperability and efficiency.
3. Capacity Building and Training: We recognize the importance of building capacity within the industry. IAFI will offer training programs and workshops to equip professionals with the skills needed to navigate the evolving telecom landscape.
4. Research and Development: IAFI will support research initiatives aimed at exploring new frontiers in telecommunications. From satellite connectivity to terrestrial networks, our focus will be on solutions that enhance connectivity and drive economic growth.
5. Preparations for Upcoming Events: As we prepare for events like WRC-27, WTDC and PP26, IAFI will ensure that our contributions are aligned with the global vision for sustainable and inclusive development in the telecom sector.
