S.S. MOTIAL

Air Cmde. (Retd.) S.S.Motial is Chairman of DECT FORUM INDIA. He is also member of Board of Directors of ESSJAY Ericsson. He is also independent consultants to many Companies.

In his long career of five decades the most challenging task he faced was that as Chairman and Managing Director of India’s largest Telecom Equipment Manufacturing Company ITI Ltd which was about to be declared sick, but he turned it around. The company achieved a turnover of 2000 Crores during his stewardship in the year 2000.

Apart from CMD ITI, he has headed many other organizations and has been member of Board of directors of all these Companies. He was MD and CEO of ELCOM a private Company engaged in manufacturing of telecom products. Before that he was Executive Chairman of MIDAS a telecom R&D and products Company incubated by IIT Madras. He has been Executive Chairman of Datamatics Information Technology Limited, Executive Director of Datamatics Limited, In addition, he has been Chairman of FIBCOM, India Satcom ltd and ITI (C) Ltd. He has also been on the Board of Hindustan Shipyard Ltd.

He has been a member of the National Telecom Committee of CII, ASSOCHEM and Indian Merchant Chamber. He was also Chairman of IETE, Mumbai Centre for the year 01-02 and member of executive committee of FICCI for Western Region. In addition, he was founder member of Governing Council of CEWiT. Presently he is member of Executive Committee of ITU APT, India’s premier professional forum for telecom fraternity.

He also carries with him experience of three decades of distinguished service he rendered to the Indian Airforce, where he held various prestigious assignments, which included control of all the communications, quality control of indigenous as well as imported equipment, indigenization of defense products and technical training. He has long experience in R&D. He headed software integration R&D for Inertial Navigation System Development for Jaguar Aircraft. He retired from the post of D PLAN ADGES. He is a veteran of 1965 & 1971 wars. He fought these wars on Western Front. He has also been member of Arbitration Tribunal and carried out arbitration between two major Companies,

Air Cmdr. Motial is B-Tech from Punjab Engineering College, Chandigarh, and M.Sc. from Madras University and M. Tech. from IIT, New Delhi, where he stood first in his stream. He is a Fellow Member of Aeronautical Society of India and IETE.

He is recipient of IT Ratna and IIIE’s Outstanding Chief Executive Awards for the year 1999-2000.
