Preparations For WRC-23
outcomes of APG23-2

Wednesday 23, June 2021 At 2.30PM IST

About Event

The WRC conferences take place every three to four years. The next one, WRC-23, will take place in the fourth quarter of 2023. The outcome of WRC-23 will result in an updating of the international spectrum framework, which is detailed in the Radio Regulations, an international treaty published and maintained by the International Telecommunication Union (a specialized agency of the United Nations).

Preparations for WRC-23 have been going on since the last WRC-19 concluded in Sharm-Al-Sheikh in November 2019. The APT Conference Preparatory Group for World Radiocommunication Conference (APG) has been developed into one of the most important activities of APT. APG was started in 1996 with the objective of harmonizing views and developing common proposals from the Asia-Pacific region for the World Radio Conference (WRC) and has met exemplary success in presenting the views of the region at WRCs.

Last meeting of APG (APG23-2) was held from 19th to 23rd April 2021 and initial preliminary views of various agenda items were developed. ITU-APT Foundation of India (IAFI) is organizing a briefing on the outcomes of APG23-2 on Wednesday June 23 at 2.30 PM India time. The workshop will be addressed by experts from India and other countries who have participated in the APG23-2 and will articulate and summarize the final outcomes on various agenda items in an easy-to-understand format. This will also help in starting our national preparations for the next APG that will be held in November this year
